This is a "teaser" (if you will) of the EP I have been writing. There are a few cool things that I have in mind to change the song on the final EP, but this is the gist of it. Just ignore the cheesy beginner midi drums...

STARRSET Drop FeedBackSTARRSET Drop "FeedBack"

Production duo STARRSET have dropped their latest effort entitled "Feedback". The track has a smooth, ambient vibe on the production side. Smooth verses compliment this sound, with a auto tuned hook. STARRSET has produced for the likes of Kreayshawn, Richard Bedford (Above & Beyond), Universal Japan & Ultra Records. Be on the lookout for more music from them, and catch their new song after the jump!

Windsor Airlift is an instrumental band that was formed in the fall of 2002 by brothers Tony and Andy Johnson and Adam Young (of Owl City). Tony and Andy have continued to write music for Windsor Airlift and in January 2012 Windsor Airlift released the album "The Meadow." The brothers c...Read More

417.3 Interview417.3 Interview

417.3 is an instrumental post-rock/ post-metal band from Russia. I first heard them just recently thanks to facebook. Their album "2", which is their 2nd full length album, came out on December 7, 2012. A link to listen and purchase the album was posted on facebook through a post-rock community page. I was first drawn to 417.3 by their heavier drome/ doom sound and low tunings and low end tones, then was mesmerized and addicted to the sound as it turned a bit softer and more melodic. It is a perfect balance of heavy and melodic which draws the listener to a surreal place away from reality and...Read More

Collapse Under the Empire Interview"Collapse Under the Empire" Interview

Collapse Under The Empire is an instrumental / post-rock duo from Hamburg / Germany. They formed 2007, when Chris Burda and Martin Grimm got together to develop their own music. Collapse Under The Empire is a 2-piece post-rock band with an electronic feel which makes the band unique, but equally inspiring and other said bands of their genre. Fusing keyboards, synthesizers, guitars, and drums to form a soul searching ambience that speaks volumes to the world through music. The thing I love about intrumental music is that anyone in the world can listen and enjoy it. You dont have to understand a...Read More

Bonobo Releases Remix Version Of Black SandsBonobo Releases Remix Version Of "Black Sands"

UK Producer Bonobo's latest project, the Black Sands Remixed album dropped earlier this week. As you might have guessed from its title, it is a complete overhaul of the material on the U.K. producer's awesome record, Black Sands. Featured producers on the remix album include Lapalux, Machinedrum, FaltyDL, and Mark Pritchard while British rapper DELS drops some bars on the Andreya Triana-assisted "Eyesdown." I highly suggest you check this out, it is a quality remix album.

Russian Circles Artist Review"Russian Circles" Artist Review

Russian Circles is a three piece instrumental rock/metal band from Chicago. Russian Circles play instrumental, sprawling music which runs the gamut of heavy discordant metal, to soft delicate passages. They are also known for their energetic live shows, mostly headlining now but in their earlier days they toured with the likes of Boris, Isis, Red Sparowes, Minus the Bear, Daughters, Coheed & Cambria, Mono, and Pelican as well as appearances at the 2006 SXSW, and 2009's Bonnaroo. They were also the opening band for Tool while playing their first tour in the United Kingdom in 2007. Their name is...Read More

Red Sparowes Artist Review"Red Sparowes" Artist Review

Red Sparowes is a Los Angeles post-rock band comprising current and former members of Isis, Halifax Pier, Angel Hair, The VSS, and Pleasure Forever. Their sound is characteristic of soundscape-influenced experimental rock, with an otherwise uncommon extensive use of a pedal steel guitar.

Red Sparowes formed in 2003 as another project for its members. Through signing to Neurot Recordings, Neurosis' record label, Red Sparowes toured with The Dillinger Escape Plan and Made Out of Babies in 2004 after recording demos for their debut album. The debut was recorded in May 2004 by engineer Desmond...Read More

Parhelia Interview"Parhelia" Interview

Parhelia is a 4-piece instrumental post-rock band from Dublin, Ireland. I have recently had the privelege of speaking with them via email. Their music is a huge inspiration to me and never fails to speak volumes to the soul. They were kind enough to let me ask them a few questions for a little more information about Parhelia's story and any news on the band. Here is what they had to say to a few questions i threw their way:

Tell us a little about yourselves and how Parhelia formed and when?

We formed in 2005. Myself Cathal and Andy had been in a band called Revile, who were...Read More

Producer Spotlight: LOVeSwimProducer Spotlight: LOVeSwim

LoveSWIM is an up and coming producer and rapper. LoveSWIM brings hard hitting drums, over laid with airy synths and funky leads. We had a chance to sit down with him to find out what goes into his process, and what to expect from his debut release "Nebulove"

1. First off tell us a little bit about yourself and where you're from?

I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii for 8 years and moved to VA In 2000, and I've been here since. As for me, not much to say without putting everyone to sleep, but I'm 19 and I have too much to do. That includes the time I make for prod...Read More

New to the Scene: AeronautNew to the Scene: Aeronaut

aeronaut. is a post-rock/instrumental band from St. Louis, MO. Aeronaut was formed when Joel Kelly and Zach Grzeskowiak were both looking for something more than the music they were playing. They both have strong influences from Ambient/Instrumental bands, and hadn't really heard anything that exact style in their local scene. They got together and jammed in mid 2011, and have been playing as Aeronaut ever since. I sat down with the guys who just began pre-production work on their self produced first independent e.p.

Emancipator Safe In The Steep Cliffs Album ReviewEmancipator "Safe In The Steep Cliffs" Album Review

A lot has happened in the five years since Doug Appling, better known as Emancipator released his first album "Soon It Will Be Cold Enough" at the age of 19. His intricate guitar pieces delicately layered over his smooth beats made him stand out in the over-saturated genre which is #Electronic. Emancipator's first release gained him a sponsorship with shoe maker Puma, as well as an interview in Rolling Stone Japan. His latest effort "Safe In The Steep Cliffs" shows nothing but maturity. With more intricate Guitar, Smoother Beats, and an overall unique exp...Read More

Jakob is a New Zealand instrumental/ post-rock band, based in the Hawkes Bay city of Napier. The band consists of guitarist Jeff Boyle; bassist Maurice Beckett; and drummer Jason Johnston. They have been compared to such bands as Mogwai, Sonic Youth, and HDU, though they largely eschew any vocals or samples in their songs.

This three-piece formed in July 1998, and began by opening for New Zealand bands Salmonella Dub and Pitch Black at the local pub O'Flaherty's. They toured extensively throughout 1999, releasing that same year a self-titled EP recorded with David Holmes at Napier's Venn Pr...Read More

Welder Florescence Album Review Welder "Florescence" Album Review

Welder is the side project of San Francisco based producer Brendan Angelides. Angelides may perhaps be better known for his main project, Eskmo Angelides blends a vast variety of complex off time melodies, with weird samples and sounds that sometimes make you cringe [in a good way]

His side project, Welder stays equally as busy as Angelides himself, having released two E.P.'s, a remix album, and two Full Lengths in the last five years. The newest being his Full Length album "Floresence" Clocking in at 11 tracks and just under an hour, the album is quite the list...Read More

i chose this name because it was right around the time i really got into instrumental music, and how words can not always be the only way to convey a message. throughout my e.p. i rely heavily on the use of samples to convey the general idea i got from the song, and the idea i hope the listener feels as well....
