Mac & Devin Go To High School Album Review

January 9, 2012 by skov // #macanddevin #highschool #wizkhalifa #snoopdogg #hiphop

Mac & Devin Go To High School Album Review Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, the self proclaimed new "Cheech and Chong" have been some busy little potheads the last year. Back in early 2011, we saw the Dogg and Wiz start making songs together, and soon after the duo announced they would be releasing a stoner film, than just called "High School". The team promised a instant stoner classic, but were silent about it for the majority of 2011.

Fast forward to October of 2011, the team came together once again, this time with a new title for the film, and sound track. "Mac And Devin Go To High School". The details of the film still seemed vague, but the sound track was done, and the team announced it would be hitting store shelves on December 9th. Clocking in at just under an hour, with twelve tracks, this soundtrack is an instant classic.

...

I must say that this release was everything but disappointing. Some songs get you pumped, some are party anthems, and some have the vintage feel in the beats that we have grown used to from weed rappers such as Wiz, Snoop, Juicy J, & Curren$y (all who are featured on the album). The first single from the movie is "Young, Wild & Free (feat. Bruno Mars)". It's a radio friendly song proclaiming "So what we get drunk, so what we smoke weed. We just havin fun, we don't care who see." An ode to the feel and message that the movie is said to portray.

Of all the tracks on the album, I must say that without a doubt my favorite is the opener "Smokin' On" ft. Juicy J. Drumma Boy's production leaves us with a track that absolutely bangs. Wiz handles the hook as well as the first verse. Him and Snoop both hold it down, with a solid feature from Juicy at the end. Just an overall feel good, banging track. The last track, "That Good" comes in a close second, for the simple reason that it's the definition of a feel good, no worries track.

Wiz and Snoop deliver twelve songs that are all classic worthy on this release. I can't wait to see the movie, check the track list and movie trailer below.

1. "Smokin' On" (featuring Juicy J)
