View is a hip-hop artist from St. Louis, Missouri. The middle child of five brothers, Jeffrey Corrigan was born in 1986. He grew up in Normandy until 1998 when his father received a settlement for being in an accident at work. A trailer slid down a hill after not being properly secured while his Dad and other employees were inside it. With the money, View's father "Tiger" relocated the family ten miles north to Florissant, Missouri.
While attending Hazelwood West middle school he met Adam Turner (Hystory), Jeffrey Dean (Bo Dean), Devon Southerland (Louie Boy) and manager Anthony Koessel. The three of them went by H.B.N, which stood for Hustlers by Nature. Fortunately, the dad of childhood friend Paul Gambill had a studio in his home, so they would record anytime Paul's parents left town.
View tells me about how he first started rapping "See when I was 14, 15 like a lot of kids my age I tried to smoke pot as much as I could" he laughs. "It's was like you could never get high enough, it's crazy looking back." "The first pot dealer I used to hang out with would not let me smoke with him unless I rapped. So we sat in his basement, rapped over 'The Carter 2' and smoked blunts. I was never serious about it", he says. "It was like a party favor 'hey jefster spit a flow.' the older people I hung out with called me 'jefster from the midwester' because I rapped."
After high school, View was introduced to Pink Floyd by childhood friend, Matt Altman. His whole outlook changed on music. He says the time he spent listening to music from the 60s and 70s helped him understand what music was. From Bob Dylan to The Greatful Dead to Al Green to Bob Marley to The Allan Brothers Band. Listening to the past helped shape his future.
When Ant started Step or Get Left Ent. in 2012, SOGL artist Hystory heard View spit some rhymes he'd wrote. Hys urged him to get in the studio and start perfecting his craft. Now it's a year later and View's debut project "Cheap Wine in a Dirty Glass" is slated to drop Summer of 2013. View Tells me the name came to him while drinking wine out of a smugged up glass before leaving for his fathers wake. "It just reflected the tone of the day" he says.
